Clemson fires defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has fired defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin after three seasons in the role.Goodwin was promoted to replace Brent Venables in 2022. Swinney said he informed Goodwin of the decision Sunday night.”Wes has been a part of our program for 13 of the past 16 years, and he played an instrumental part in all of our success,” Swinney said in a statement Monday. “I love Wes and his family and wish him all the best as he continues his journey. I know he has a bright future ahead.”Swinney said he hopes to have a new DC in place by the end of the month “or sooner.”Clemson extended Goodwin last February and owes him $1.5 million in 2025 and $1.6 million in 2026, according to the Post & Courier. The matter would go to mitigation if Goodwin lands another job, per the report.
